Maybe you’ve known your career path since the age of six. Or perhaps you’re still a little murky regarding what you’d like to do. Either way, the University of Houston can help you refine your goals and chart a course to achieve them.
University Career Services offers a wide range of programs and services that will help you reach your goals, both while you’re at UH and long after. Here’s a sampling:
- Career Counseling
- Meet with our professional career staff to choose a major, explore career options, improve your resume, learn about internships, prepare for interviews, establish a credential file, and a lot more.
- Job Posting Services
- University Career Services offers internet access to part-time and full-time job listings, including on-campus, internship, and career-level positions. New listings are received daily. Interested job candidates may apply on-line. Log in to access JOBank and JobScan.
- On-Campus Recruiting
- Every semester, top corporations and organizations come to campus to interview students for internships and full-time jobs. UH also participates in several career fairs each semester. It’s a great opportunity to test your interviewing skills, meet potential employers, and land a great job. Be sure to mark recruiting events on your calendar
- University Career Advisory Network (UCAN)
- UCAN advisors come from a wide range of professions and experience levels and work individually with students on a variety of job-related topics. You might learn what a particular career is really like, how best to prepare for a given career, how to find a job in your field, and other useful career and job-search information.
- Internship Program
- Internships offer an excellent way to experience and evaluate a potential career while you are still in school. An internship can also help you develop professional references and contacts for future networking.
- Career Workshops
- Career Services facilitates workshops on topics including resume writing, interview techniques, internships, job search, and campus recruitment.
- Career Resource Library
- More than 600 career development and job search books, directories, and videos are available on reserve at the front desk of University Career Services. See a complete list here.
