Meeting Minutes

The National Honor Society in Psychology

Founded
Psi Chi was founded at Yale University in September 1929 and there are 1,013 active chapters throughout the nation. Psi Chi was admitted to the Association of College Honor Societies in 1965.

Purpose
The purpose of Psi Chi is to advance the science of psychology and to encourage, stimulate, and maintain the scholarship of individual members in all fields, particularly in psychology. The goals of Psi Chi for members and officers are to provide academic recognition to its inductees and to stimulate professional growth through a network of special events, speakers, and materials pertaining to the field of psychology.

Membership Eligibility
The basic criteria are as follows:

Undergraduate: 9 hours completed in psychology at UHCL and overall GPA of 3.76 or better.

Graduate: 12 hours completed in graduate psychology at UHCL and overall GPA of 3.76 or better.

All: Registration as a psychology or behavioral sciences major; three fourths affirmative vote of those present at a regular meeting of the chapter; high standards of personal behavior; good standing with the university.

Status
Psi Chi inducts in the fall and spring of each year. Psi Chi is registered as a UHCL student organization.

Returning Students

If you completed your Bachelor's degree with Psi Chi honors and have returned for your Masters degree in Psychology, please notify us with your new estimated graduation date so you will be recognized at your future graduation ceremony.
