Graduation
At the beginning of the last semester for completing your Master's degree option, begin reviewing your INST Master Degree requirements to determine if you qualify for graduation. Ask yourself the following questions:
Are all of the requirements as designated in my candidate plan of study met?
Will I have completed all of my course requirements by the end of this semester?
Are all of my e-portfolio requirements met?
Will I have completed my Master's Option by the end of this semester?
If you answer YES to all of the above questions, then you are ready to graduate and obtain your INST Master of Science degree.
Obtain a Graduation Application form from the Office of Admissions or online at http://prtl.uhcl.edu/admissions/ . Complete the Graduation Application form by indicating the semester you plan to graduate and if you plan on participating in the graduation ceremony. The commencement ceremonies are held at the conclusion of the Spring and Fall semesters. Please note that there is NO commencement ceremony at the end of all summer sessions. However, you should still apply for graduation and indicate you will participate in the commencement ceremony. All summer students who graduate in the summer will receive their degrees and be able to participate in the commencement ceremony at the end of the next Fall semester.
Submit your application for graduation to the Office of Admissions and pay the $50.00 graduation fee. You must check the Important Dates Calendar of the current semester printed Class Schedule or online at http://prtl.uhcl.edu/admissions/ for the graduation application deadline date. If you miss the deadline you will have to wait until the next semester to graduate and receive your master's degree.
The Office of Admissions will forward the application to the School of Education. The School of Education will verify with an audit if you have met all of your UHCL SoE INST degree plan requirements. You will receive a letter of from the SoE indicating approval for you to graduate along with instructions for what to do for the commencement ceremony. If you are approved and plan to participate in the commencement ceremony, you should make arrangements for a cap and gown at the UHCL bookstore no later than two weeks prior to the commencement ceremony.
Approximately four to six weeks after the official semester closing in which you graduated, UHCL will mail your degree to you through the US Postal Services.
