Mission Improvable
Friday, October 24
8:00 pm, Bayou Theater
The agents of MISSION IMPROVable 2 Comedy Team are just a few audience suggestions away from creating a brand new and original production that’s all about whatever you tell them! This fast-paced and exciting new form of comedy is a combination of MTV’s “Wild’N Out” and “Who’s Line is it Anyway?” – but there is a bit of a twist. Just like in the old TV Series “Mission Impossible,” the Chicagoan actors in Mission IMPROVable 2 pretend to be agents. Audience members are the co-agents and participate in the hilarious theater games, or “missions,” by yelling out suggestions. The on-the-spot randomness provided by the audience makes each mission truly unique and very often hysterical.

Martha Kemper in the one-woman show, Me, Miss Krause & Joan
Saturday, February 28
8:00 pm, Bayou Theater
Deep personal experience is fertile ground for acting. Usually an actor's source of inspiration is hidden. In this piece Martha Kemper reveals what goes on in an actor's homework, in search of answers to the question, "How would I play Joan of Arc?" The piece weaves history, autobiography and lore structured around pivotal moments during Martha’s time in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania learning acting from a brilliant teacher, Alvina Krause. In the story there is the brilliance of Krause and theatre, but there is darkness, too: in the re-living of events that took place on Bloomsburg back streets, spliced into the trial of Joan of Arc. The interwoven experiences suggest a theme: there are things so true and so eternal that no violence can kill, things so real and so important they can never die.
The piece is for general audiences of 17 or older
