Scholarships are free financial assistance given to qualifying students to support their academic endeavors. They do not need to be paid back upon graduation; however, there usually are stipulations and requirements of students awarded funding. Scholarships are generally competitive.
There are two types of scholarships: Internal Scholarships and External Scholarships. UHCL's internal scholarships are administered by UHCL. Scholarships specified as external scholarships are not administered by UHCL.
The Office of Student Financial Aid administers almost all the internal scholarships for UHCL. Future UHCL students and current or continuing UHCL students should visit the Financial Aid's Scholarship website to review eligibility and deadlines.
Celebrating Our Elders Scholarship Project is the only internal scholarship administered by IISS. Eligible high school seniors or graduates and community college students who will attend a Houston-area community college or university are welcome to apply to IISS for this scholarship only.
Many varied external scholarship opportunities are available for college students.
