In the School of Human Sciences and Humanities (HSH) we dedicate ourselves to the study of people from a variety of perspectives. We foster the ideals of the liberal arts, believing that a broad education provides a student with the best foundation for creating a life that is meaningful and fulfilling. Our programs also provide practical preparation for many professional careers.
Rather than dividing our programs into separate departments based on the usual disciplinary boundaries, in HSH we have two interrelated clusters or divisions: Human Sciences (HS) and Humanities and Fine Arts (HFA). Students within each division study from a variety of disciplines that make up the cluster. With the help of faculty advisers, individual students develop a plan of study most appropriate to their interests and goals. The plan may be either broadly interdisciplinary or more focused, resembling a traditional disciplinary major.
We offer Bachelors' and Masters' degrees in a variety of fields in both Human Sciences and Humanities & Fine Arts.
We invite you to explore the range of courses and programs offered in the Human Sciences and Humanities, to learn about our highly capable and dedicated faculty, and to take advantage of our capable and friendly advisors.
