Dollars for Scholars Scholarship

Out-of-State Undergraduate
All Graduate Students

You can begin the Dollars for Scholars process before you are accepted at UHCL. After you are accepted and enrolled at UHCL, you can access scholarships awarded to you.

Eligibility

If you are eligible for the Transfer Student Scholarship, you will not be considered for a Dollars for Scholarship.

• Planning to attend the University of Houston-Clear Lake for the first time
• Degree-seeking
• All graduate students
• Undergraduate students who do not qualify for in-state tuition
• Enrolling in a minimum of 6 credit hours per semester 
• Proven academic ability

Application Instructions

1. Download and complete the Dollars for Scholars application. You can fill out the application online. Don’t forget to sign your application using black ink!
2. Write a four-part personal statement not to exceed two typed pages, double spaced and 12 point font
   
   1. Brief personal history
   2. Your major and the degree you are pursuing
   3. The importance of earning a degree
   4. How you plan to use your degree to achieve future goals
3. Submit two letters of recommendation.
   These do not have to be in sealed envelopes; however, they must contain current contact information of the individual writing the letter.
4. Provide Official Transcripts
   Provide official transcripts solely for your scholarship evaluation. Transcripts do not have to be in sealed envelopes, however they must be official and included with your Dollars for Scholars application. Photocopies will NOT be accepted.
