About Our DE Programs: Online Certificate and Degree Programs
ONLINE GRADUATE DEGREE PROGRAMS
UHCL offers the following graduate degree programs for completion entirely online:
Master of Science in Instructional Technology Graduate students pursuing a degree in Instructional Technology learn how to use and integrate computer technology to either provide or facilitate instruction. Students will learn how to apply what we know about human learning, instruction, and emerging technologies to analyze, design, develop, implement and evaluate effective learning environments.
Master of Science in Software Engineering Graduate students pursuing a degree in Software Engineering will learn to address critical issues across the life cycle of software systems beginning with the proposal to develop an application through development, testing, operation, maintenance and, finally, retirement of the application. Students will gain an understanding of the latest tools and technologies developed to address these issues.
Master of Business Administration Graduate students in the MBA program engage in a solid curriculum that is hands-on, practical and balanced with real-world applications. It focuses on the application of theory and highlights best business practices. The program is structured to help students make the most of their abilities by broadening their knowledge of functional areas of business, developing strong general management perspectives and exploring theoretical concepts.
Master of Science in Finance The Master of Science in Finance program emphasizes technical knowledge and practical skills needed to succeed in the finance profession. The degree prepares graduates for multiple career opportunities in business and financial management such as: analyst, auditor, bank officer, capital budgeting manager, cash manager, consultant, controller, credit manager, financial planning manager, financial reporting specialist, mortgage analyst, portfolio manager, project finance manager, risk manager, securities analyst, tax compliance manager, and Treasury Manager. Online courses have been developed by experienced faculty with the aid of instructional and web design professionals. The online instructors are the same faculty members who teach the face-to-face courses and are accessible to students virtually and in person. A healthcare administration concentration is available within this program.
Master of Arts in Human Resource Management In our Master of Arts in Human Resource Management program you will learn about employee benefits and compensation, labor relations, interpersonal communications, training and development, and teamwork and leadership skills. Some of the career opportunities available to graduates are compensation consultant, benefits consultant, trainer, human resource analyst, human resource director, recruiter, and labor relations professional.

INST CERTIFICATES
Performance Technology Certificate With this certificate, you can analyze human work performance problems and outcomes, select the most effective instructional strategies for a given objective, align learning goals and objectives to the best assessment measures and meet the instructional needs of diverse learners through instructional support.
Online Distance Educator Certificate Our Online Distance Educator Certificate enables students to prepare effective interactive online educational products including Web-based instructional activities. Some topics include systematic design instruction, writing measurable objectives, creating and designing interactive instructional strategies for distance learners and selecting appropriate distance delivery systems.
TEXAS STATE TECHNOLOGY TEACHING CERTIFICATES
8-12 Technology Applications Certificate This program prepares students for the 8-12 Technology Applications TExES State Assessment that will be required to teach technology application courses for grades 8-12.
EC-12 Technology Applications Certificate This program prepares students for the EC-12 Technology Applications TExES State Assessment that will be required to teach technology application courses for grades EC-12.
Master Technology Teacher Certificate The Master Technology Teacher certificate provides 2-18 credit hours of graduate courses that are equivalent to 30-270 of continuing education credits. Successful completion of course work will prepare students to pass the Master Technology Teacher State Assessment, to serve a mentoring role and support technology integration.
OTHER CERTIFICATES
Fitness and Human Performance Certificate The FHP certificate is designed for individuals with a bachelor’s degree who are not seeking a master’s degree in Fitness and Human Performance but do want to receive specific instruction in fitness, exercise, nutrition and human performance.
Software Engineering Certificate
The University of Houston Clear Lake is a Participating Member of the Institute of Software Engineering (ISE ) and its' Shared Software Infrastructure Program (SSIP). Through this partnership UHCL is proud to offer students the opportunity to earn a certificate in Software Engineering. This certificate can be earned as a standalone certificate or in conjunction with work on an MS degree in Software Engineering. All courses taken at UHCL in fulfillment of this certificate are also courses that may be applied for credit for the MS degree in Software Engineering at UHCL. Therefore the certificate courses could be applied to your MS degree if you choose to continue your study in Software Engineering. Or you can take the certificate courses without pursuing an MS.
Systems Engineering Certificate Students may already have a Masters degree in a related field and would benefit from a four course set in Systems Engineering basics that would help them advance in their professional career. The candidate could, after receiving a SENG certificate, apply these four courses toward the completion of the Master of Science degree. The candidate choosing to earn a certificate in Systems Engineering will be required to complete four courses with a 3.0 grade point average or better, based on a 4.0 system.
