The Student Administration Management (SAM) Team serves as a centralized focal point for PeopleSoft Student Administration Operations at the University of Houston Clear Lake. SAM responsibilities include tracking and management of PeopleSoft related issues, development of training material and classes, creation of end-user how-to-instructions, end-user support, software testing and quality assurance, and security management. 

Issue Resolution   
"Expire Page" Error Message Create Date: 18-NOV-2008

After the PeopleTools upgrade, users complain about getting an ‘Expire’ when they try to access SA\HR from the Portal hub page.  We suspect this problem is caused by ‘orphaned’ browser cookies. 

To keep from getting the "Expire page" try the following:

  • Clear your browser cookies and restart your browser.
    How: To clear cache\cookies in ‘Internet Explorer 7’ select Tools -> Internet Options -> General Tab -> Click ‘Delete’ button.  At the ‘Delete Browser History’ window click ‘Delete all…’.  Once the cookies have been cleared, close all instances of your browser.
  • Always sign out of myUH using the ‘Sign Out’ link.  Never close the browser without signing out. 
    Why: Closing the browser without signing out leaves the myUH session cookie active.  The next time you log on, your browser uses the previous session’s cookies, which have most likely expired causing the ‘Expire’ page to be displayed. 
  • Refrain from using multiple tabs on the same browser window.
    Why: There tabs share the same session cookie, causing unexpected results.  If you need to have multiple pages open, use two separate browser instances.
