UHCL’s wireless network uses a protocol called Protected Extensible Authentication Protocol (PEAP). This allows users to log on to the wireless network using their username and password provided by UHCL for Mail and Network Logins.
PEAP is configurable using Windows’ Wireless Zero Configuration. This is the default program on many computers that utilizes the Windows version of a wireless client.
In order to connect to the UHCL wireless network, no secondary software has to be installed. A profile can be added to the Windows Wireless Zero Configuration tool. This will not affect any other wireless networks you previously connected to, nor will with impede your computer’s ability to connect to any in the future.
Faculty, staff and student laptops can be configured, but only after initial system checks are preformed. This will tell the UCT Staff whether or not your computer can be connected to the network at all.
Only machines with Windows Vista, XP, 2000, and Mac OS 10.3 or later will be eligible for wireless network profile setup.
If the computer does not meet required standards, it will not be configured or supported by the UCT Support Center. User is at their own risk with configuration and support on non-supported machines.
Documentation is available if the customer desires to set up the wireless network profile themselves.
