Faculty Guide: Speech Impairment

Speech impairments range from problems with articulation and voice strength to being nonverbal.

This can include:

  • Stuttering
  • Chronic hoarseness (dysphonia)
  • Difficulty in evoking an appropriate word or term (nominal aphasia)
  • Esophageal speech (resulting from a Laryngotomy)
