Career Possibilities Outside the Public Schools
Public school teaching can be a very rewarding career and your teaching certification will allow you this possibility. You may, however be in a position to look beyond public school teaching, either to explore another career, or to gain supplemental income after school hours or in the summer. Many of the programs listed on this sheet hire current and/or former teachers either full or part time. These programs can enhance your classroom teaching, or take your career in a new direction. You will find your curriculum planning and teaching skills very transferable to other settings
Getting further education with a master's degree will pay off as well, not only financially, but in the increased career opportunities both inside and outside the school setting. It will network you with others and help make you aware of other career possibilities.
