Students taking one or more hours automatically become Fitness Zone members when they register for classes and pay all their fee bill. One must be a fee-paying student to be eligible as a student member. Students must fill out an application and then use their current University ID with a validation sticker to access the Fitness Zone. Students who enroll in classes but later withdraw from the university will be denied access to the Fitness Zone.
Students not enrolling in classes for the summer term but were enrolled the previous Spring and will be registering for the next Fall semester are eligible to use the Fitness Zone with a Spring validation sticker on their ID.
Faculty/Staff
University of Houston Clear Lake faculty/staff are eligible to purchase a Fitness Zone membership. Employees must have a UHCL ID card and will have their UHCL ID validated when they’ve completed their membership application and paid the appropriate fee. Fees are $35/semester or $90/yr. Payment options include checks cash or payroll deductions. Payroll deductions and yearly memberships are offered only in January and August. ID’s must be presented to enter the facility.
Alumni/Retired Faculty/Staff
Current members of the UHCL Alumni Organization will be eligible to purchase a Fitness Zone membership. Alumni status must be verified prior to completing their membership application at the Fitness Zone. This process may take a few days to complete. Alumni memberships may be limited depending on current Fitness Zone usage. Retired F/S status will be verified with HR prior to membership
Family members of Faculty and Staff
Fitness Zone members (faculty and staff) may sponsor a spouse and/or one other adult living in the same household and/or children ages 16-21. The sponsoring Fitness Zone member must appear in person to verify their agreement to sponsor and sign the registration form. Documentation is required to verify sponsorship eligibility.
Preferred documents: Driver License with same address as sponsor, School ID, birth certificate for a child.
Children ages 16-21 must be accompanied by their sponsor member when working out in the Fitness Zone.
Family, Alumni, Retired Faculty/School memberships must be renewed each semester.
Children/Youth Policy
Children under 16 years of age are not allowed in the facility at any time.
All Fitness Zone memberships are offered according to the following schedule period.
August 21 - December 23, 2004
January 3 - May 15
Students
Free for currently enrolled, tuition paying
Family Member/Alumni/Retired
$65 per semester with $10 processing fee the first semester.
Faculty/Staff
$35 per semester (Fall, Spring or Summer), or
$90 per year. Payment can be made by payroll deduction, cash, check or money order.
Payroll Deductions for Faculty/Staff only available in Jan and Aug.
Any members needing the assistance of an attendant while using the Fitness Zone may request access for an attendant at no additional cost. The attendant and member needing assistance must be together at all times. Documentation of the need may be required. Requests should be made in writing at least five business days in advance to the Student Life Office as well as the Disability Services. The Center for Students with Disabilities will serve as a resource for the Student Life Office in determining level of assistance needed.
