Welcome to University of Houston-Clear Lake SCE Academic Advising. Our Office hours are listed separately. Please call to schedule an appointment if walk-in times conflict with your schedule. We hope you will check out the SCE Academic Advising Bulletin Board located outside Suite 3611. We often post information of a somewhat temporary nature that may be of interest to visitors, prospective and current students as well as alumni who stop by the office.

Welcome new students for Spring 2009! See you at Orientation:
You may request an informal audit of your CPS at any time during your academic career. Requests must be made in writing and results will be available within 24 hours. Before you register for your final semester would be the ideal time to request a pre-graduation audit.
APPLY FOR GRADUATION BY FEBRUARY 20! Degree Conferral date will be May 18, 2009. Students who apply for graduation by the deadline will receive their formal graduation pre-audit from the SCE Academic Advising Office approximately 4 weeks after the graduation application deadline. All course substitutions, transfer credits, waivers and other changes must be approved using a CPS Change Form. If you have any deficiencies pending, please resolve them as soon as possible. Academic Advisors can assist you with your questions and paperwork, but your CPS is the primary information resource concerning your degree. If you are taking courses at another school during your final semester, you must have your grades reported to the advising office no later than the Official Closing date of the semester. All campus holds must be resolved before you can receive your diploma or order transcripts. You may check your graduation status via your E-Services account approximately one week after the official closing of the semester. Information on the May commencement ceremony can be obtained on-line at: http://prtl.uhcl.edu/record.

Email:
SCE advisors and faculty communicate with students via email and will increase the use of this instant communication in matters that will benefit students as long as information provided does not violate privacy rights.
UHCL Campus Email will be our primary means of electronic communication. Students are advised to set up their campus email account as soon as possible and check it often for university business.
Some communications may not be appropriate for email, and in those cases, we may call you or mail paperwork.
Address/Phone:
Students must update address and phone number information in order to maintain smooth communications campus-wide. Report a change of address or phone number by using a Personal Information Change Form (available on line in printable format at http://www.uchl.edu/records and then click on “forms”), or you can make the change via your E-Services account.
Face to Face Communication:
Our students have indicated in surveys – and we agree – the favored means of communication, if possible, is face-to-face during an advising session in our offices. If you have questions about your transfer credits, make sure you bring a copy of your most up-to-date transcript(s) when you walk in or make an appointment to meet with us.
We're here to answer your questions and assist you in every way possible. One of your best sources for self-help information is the UHCL Catalog!
The UHCL catalog contains so much information that is vital to your success – why would you not read it from cover to cover? OK, we understand when you don't, however if you at least read the front sections “Information for New Students” and “General Degree Requirements”, and the “School of Science and Computer Engineering” section (including course descriptions), you will be much more successful during your academic career.
A special note from your academic advisors: we support and adhere to the university and school policies and procedures as outlined in the catalog.
