Environmental Science Program

Environmental Science M.S. - Safety

Our application for the Safety programs at both the BS and MS levels have been reviewed and approved by the Institute for Safety & Health Management ( ISHM). Graduates from these programs can now apply immediately after graduation for the Associate Safety & Health Manager (ASHM) designation and with 2 years experience, in the Safety and health management fields, they can apply to take the CSHM exam. This is a 3-yr reduction to the normal waiting period.

Minimum Requirements:
Applicants for candidacy should have a bachelor's degree in sciences or engineering with a significant number of courses in biology, chemistry, physics, and mathematics. Candidates should have a "B" average (GPA: 3.0) on the last 60 hours of credit.  GREs are required by all students applying for the graduate program.  Scores will be evaluated by the school’s admissions committee.

The Candidate Plan of Studies (CPS) must include a minimum of 36 semester hours and include 6 hours of thesis or 3 hrs in research topic. Of these, a minimum of 24 hours (8 courses) must be at the 5,000 and 6,000 levels. Only 6 undergraduate credit hours (2 courses at the 4,000 level) may be applied toward the M.S. degree.

The remaining 6 hours (2 courses) may be taken in related areas of Biology, Chemistry, or Geology and will be arranged with the advisor in preparing the Candidate Plan of Studies.
