Parking Permits

Upon application to the University Police Department, one permit will be issued to persons applying for parking privileges at the University of Houston-Clear Lake.  This permit is transferable to any passenger vehicle being operated by or for the permit holder.  The applicant will be responsible for parking violations by any vehicle bearing this permit.  The permit belongs to individual and not the car.

1. Display of Permit - A parking permit shall be displayed on the vehicle according to the instructions provided at the time of issuance and on the permit. Additionally, the permit shall not be altered or defaced in any manner.
   1. Hanging Permits must be clearly visible and hung from the inside rear view mirror of the vehicle when parked on campus. If no rear view mirror post is available, the permit may be taped to the windshield, in the lower left corner, so that it is readily visible from outside the vehicle. If the hanging permit in anyway interferes with the driver's vision, it must be removed while driving the vehicle.
   2. Permits SHALL NOT  be taped or affixed by unauthorized  means.  Externally mounted permits shall be issued for all motorcycles and mopeds.
2. Removal of Permits -- The original applicant may be held responsible for any citation(s) issued to a vehicle displaying a parking permit.

   Stolen or lost permits should be reported immediately to the University Police Department (Bayou Bldg. #1636), @ 281-283-2222.

   Permits shall be removed:

   1. Whenever there is a change of vehicle ownership.
   2. When association with the university is terminated.
   3. When a replacement permit has been issued to take the place of a previously issued permit.
   4. Upon expiration or revocation of the permit.
3. Permit Ownership - A parking permit signifies that an individual has been granted the privilege of parking on university property. The applicant may display their authorized permit in any vehicle that they are currently driving on campus.  However, ownership of the permit remains with the university. Individuals are not allowed to transfer ownership of the permit. All lost and found permits shall be returned to the University Police Department. Possession or use of lost/stolen or forged/altered permits shall result in administrative charges and/or criminal charges filed. Vehicles displaying a lost/stolen or forged/altered permit may be impounded with appropriate citation and wrecker fees charged to the violator.
