On the university premises or at university sponsored activities, the following acts are prohibited:
In addition to imposition of disciplinary sanctions under university procedures including suspension or separation from the university for such acts, students and employees may face prosecution and sanctions under federal and Texas laws, which may make such acts felony and misdemeanor crimes.
The Student Life Policies list details of offenses and discipline for students. These policies can be found in the Student Life Office. Staff may be disciplined under the Discipline and Dismissal of Non-Faculty Employees of the University Disciplinary Procedures. These procedures can be found in the Human Resources office. Faculty may be disciplined by utilizing the directions outlined in the Faculty Handbook, through the Office of the Senior Vice President/Provost.
A comprehensive drug and alcohol abuse prevention policy is available for viewing within the total policy/procedure manual found in the Neumann Library Reserve Section.
The health risks associated with the misuse and abuse of mind-altering drugs, including controlled substances and alcohol, include but are not limited to:
physical and psychological dependence
damaged
brain
pancreas
kidneys
lungs
high blood pressure
heart attacks
strokes
ulcers
birth defects
diminished immune system
death.
The University of Houston-Clear Lake Counseling Center and Student Health Services provide assessment and referral services to University students, as well as serving as an alcohol and other drug information/education resources.
