<B>Featured Speaker: Dr. Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni </B><BR> Dr. Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni is an award-winning author, acclaimed poet, and founder of Maitri, a non-profit support service for South Asian Women. She is the author of poetry, short fiction, and novels, including Queen of Dreams, Mistress of Spices, and Sister of My Heart. Divakaruni’s writing most often centers around the lives of immigrant women.

Ben Mieszkuc announces the creation of the Marilyn Mieszkuc Memorial Professorship in Women's Studies, the first privately funded Professorship at UHCL, at a ceremony on February 20, 2003.
