General University and Human Sciences & Humanities
Undergraduate Degree Requirements
Students wishing to enroll in the University must complete an Application for Admission and send it to the University Office of Admissions. Prior to admission, applicants must furnish the Office of Admissions all required transcripts. All inquiries regarding admission to the University should be addressed to the Admissions Office.
General University Requirements:
Refer to the University Undergraduate Degree Requirements section for general and Core Curriculum requirements.
General Requirements for the Bachelor’s Degree in Human Sciences and Humanities:
· A total of 120 semester hours of applicable college credits for most programs.
· Exceptions include the Bachelor of Social Work (123 hours), the Bachelor of Arts in History with 8-12 History Certification (127 hours), the Bachelor of Arts in History with 8-12 Social Studies Certification (127 hours), the Bachelor of Arts in Literature with 4-8 Certification (127 hours), and the Bachelor of Arts in Literature with 8-12 Certification (127 hours).
· No more than 18 hours of previously earned lower-level credit may have been taken by correspondence and / or extension courses.
· At least 60 semester hours of upper-level work. A minimum of 48 hours of upper-level must be completed with grades of “C” or better. Grades of C- and below are not acceptable.
· At least 30 hours of the degree program, including 12 hours of courses in Behavioral Sciences, must be taken in residence at UHCL and the last 30 hours must be taken at UHCL.
· A cumulative GPA of at least 2.0 on coursework at UHCL.
