History of the Program        Goals and Purposes   Philosophy   How Classes are Taught

The program began in 1977 with an enrollment of 30 students.  Dr. Ellin Grossman and Mary Ann Boykin worked together to develop model curricula and teaching methods for diverse ages and learners.  In 2005, after teaching with the Art School for ten years, Ann Waltz became the director.  From its beginning to present, the program has expanded to an annual enrollment of over 1200 students with extension programs in the Clear Creek, Friendswood, and La Porte Independent School Districts as well as local private schools and home school groups.
