Mandatory Training FAQ's:
Q1: I just completed this training didn’t I?
Answer #1: Yes, you may have completed a New Hire training course if you were hired during FY09 which runs from September 1, 2008 through August 31, 2009. You are now being asked to complete the mandatory training requirement for FY10.
Answer #2: It may also be that you completed the training this time last year for FY09. University of Houston System employees are required by the associated policies with each course, to complete them annually or as otherwise enforced. To learn more, click on the associated policy/law next to each course listed above under Courses Required. You are now being asked to complete the mandatory training requirement for FY10.
Q2: I completed the course but it does not show me as complete in P.A.S.S?
Answer #1:The online courses are housed on the UH Campus in WebCT Vista, and P.A.S.S is located in the PeopleSoft enterprise system. Therefore, it can take from 24 to 48 hours to update your training record in P.A.S.S. The data feeds from the online course system to P.A.S.S occur nightly and are not simultaneous.
NOTE: To check and verify your training record in P.A.S.S, please refer to the following step by step process located on the following website:
Answer #2: If you have logged in and your training summary (after 24-48 hours) does not show you as complete, please verify that you have achieved the required score in order to receive credit. Please refer to the course table listed above.
Q3: If I am having technical difficulties (course login, password, technical course issues), who do I contact?
Answer: For technical support, or to reset your online training password, please contact the University of Houston Technology Support Services at 713-743-1411.
Q4: I logged into the online course system but it tells me that Internet Explorer 8.0 is not compatible, what do I do?
Answer: The FY10 Annual Mandatory Training courses are being offered through WebCT Vista 3, which will work with IE6, IE7, Firefox 1.5 on PC, Firefox 1.0 on Mac, and Safari 2 on Mac.
The following newer browsers are NOT SUPPORTED: IE8, Safari 3 and 4, Firefox 2 and 3.
Specifically, the training video presentation in the courses will not run on IE8. Users can click on the "Printable Presentation" to read the material instead of viewing the presentation.
Users can use the "Check Browser" option on the login page to find out if they are using a compatible browser. For more information, see http://www.uh.edu/hr/mandatorytraining/.
If you have additional questions about supporting the technical side of these courses, please contact at 713-744-1411 or send email to support@uh.edu.
NOTE: The UCT Support Center will not be accepting requests to install any of the above browsers at this time as all campus PC’s have the supported version of Internet Explorer installed (IE 7.0 or earlier).
Q5: I am a part time employee, student worker or an adjunct faculty member, do I have to complete the training?
Answer: Yes. All employees of the University of Houston System are required to complete the annual mandatory training. If you receive payment/compensation for work from the University of Houston System, you are required to complete the annual mandatory training or new hire training courses if you are a new/recent hire.
Q6: Do I have to complete all the courses at one time?
Answer: No. You can complete each course one at a time and do not have to complete all of the courses in one sitting. However, it is highly recommended to set aside some time where you can take the courses with little or minimal interruption.
Q7: How much time do I have to complete the courses?
Answer: The official launch date of the FY10 Annual Mandatory Training starts on Tuesday, October 6th and runs through the published end date of Friday, December 4, 2009.
Q8: What happens if I do not complete the courses by the published deadline of November 30th?
Answer: According to SAM 02.A.11 and SAM 02.A.26, any employee that does not complete all training by December 4, 2009 will not have met their minimum job requirements, and therefore will not be eligible for a merit increase. Employees will still be encouraged to continue to complete their training, if they have not yet done so by December 4, 2009, as the courses will remain available on their UHS Training account through July of this fiscal year (FY10). However, to be eligible for merit increases in FY11, employees must complete the training by December 4, 2009.
