The university provides employees with lighted, restricted parking close to each campus building. In addition to having emergency call boxes in each parking lot, the University Police Officers and security personnel patrol the parking lots on a regular basis. They may assist employees by unlocking vehicles, airing deflated tires, and/or starting vehicles with dead batteries. An officer will accompany anyone who does not feel comfortable walking to and from the parking lots, day or night. Arrangements for any of these services can be obtained by stopping by the office or calling 281/283-2222.
A parking fee will be charged each employee who operates/parks a motor vehicle on the campus or on properties leased by the university. Any vehicle not having a valid UH-Clear Lake permit will be ticketed, unless special arrangements have been made with the University Police Department to park on campus without such a permit.
The mission of Health and Disability Services is to assist faculty, staff, and students in attaining and maintaining a high level of wellness. It is mandatory that all work-related accidents and/or injuries be reported to the health services center; treatment will be provided or you will be referred to a physician or hospital.
In addition, if you enroll in the standard health insurance plan, not an HMO, you will find using some of the services for short term medical treatment not only convenient but also cost effective in these times of escalating medical expenses. Areas where savings may apply are physicians visits, Women's Health Care program, some prescription medications, lab work, and flu vaccines. You can save money by purchasing over the counter medications as well but supplies are limited. Unit dose medications are also provided as a service at cost.
