The Office of Admissions will be closed on Thursday, November 19, from 12-1:00 p.m.
For admission to UHCL, you must have earned an Associate of Arts, Associate of Arts in Teaching or Associate of Science or completed at least 54 semester hours of college credit with a minimum 2.0 GPA from a regionally accredited university or college. See How We Calculate Your Transfer GPA.
If you are admitted with one of the previously mentioned associate degrees, you must also meet the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) requirement and be eligible to return to the last institution attended.
For those admitted with 54 semester credit hours and a GPA of 2.0 or higher the following is required:
Texas Success Initiative (TSI) requirement must be completed prior to enrolling. The requirement can be met by passing all three sections of the THEA/TASP exam or by exemption.
All students, regardless of immigration status, who are citizens of countries where English is not the native language must demonstrate English proficiency by taking the TOEFL prior to admission and meeting the required scores or filing for an exemption.
To qualify for early admission, you must be currently enrolled in the appropriate number of course credits that when added to your completed coursework, total 54 semester credit hours and have a minimum GPA of 2.0. Composition I and the appropriate math course must be completed with a C- or better. You may be currently enrolled in Composition II or Technical Writing. To prevent cancellation of admission/registration and loss of financial aid, courses in progress must be completed with a C- or better, posted to the transcript and received by our admissions office prior to the first day of class.
Applicants for concurrent enrollment are students completing lower-level courses at another institution who desire simultaneous enrollment at UHCL. You may be approved for admission if the following requirements are met:
Students who are admitted under concurrent enrollment will not be eligible for financial aid and are limited to taking 12 semester credit hours at UHCL in this status.
An undergraduate student who enrolls at UHCL as a transient will not be required to meet the English or math requirement. However, all other admission criteria must be met. Enrollment under this option is limited to one semester and you are not eligible for financial aid.
Admission as a summer transient is limited to six semester credit hours and terminates at the end of the summer sessions. Applicants for summer transient status must meet the following requirements:
If you choose to become a degree-seeking student at UHCL, you must meet all admission requirements, reapply for admission and pay a new application processing fee.
