Annual Harvest Fair accepting vendor applications

University of Houston-Clear Lake’s Support Staff Association invites area artisans, crafters and other vendors to participate in the association’s Annual Harvest Fair Tuesday, Nov. 11, through Thursday, Nov. 13. The event gives UH-Clear lake faculty, staff, students and community members and opportunity to complete some early holiday shopping. Proceeds from this program support association events as well as funds five staff scholarships that are awarded biannually.

The vendor participation fee is $35 per day and includes two 3’ x 5’ tables and two folding chairs in a 6’ x 6’ space.

Determine your next career move

If you are considering a career change but are unsure which path to take, University of Houston-Clear Lake’s Career Exploration Workshop can provide you with the tools to answer your questions. The next two-day workshop will be held Saturday, Oct. 11, and Saturday, Oct. 25.

This program includes interest, personality and strengths assessments; review of educational and work experiences; exploration of career information resources; and presentations by experienced counselors. The workshop fee is $25 for currently enrolled UH-Clear Lake students; $60 for UH-Clear Lake alumni; $100 for former UH-Clear Lake students, students attending other schools, and UH-Clear Lake faculty and staff; and $175 for all others. The Oct. 11 session occurs 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. and the Oct. 25 session runs 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. in the UH-Clear Lake Bayou Building.

GT identification workshop set for Oct. 18

Teachers can add to their resources Saturday, Oct. 18, when University of Houston-Clear Lake’s Center for Education Programs sponsors “GT Identification and Assessment.” This one-day workshop lets attendees explore the gifted and talented identification procedures and alternative assessments as well as increase their knowledge on qualitative and quantitative information.

“GT Identification and Assessment” will take place from 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. in UH-Clear Lake’s Arbor Building, 2700 Bay Area Blvd., Houston.  The course fee is $40 for Southeast Co-op members and $60 for non-members.

Miloš Boda photos on display

Artistic photographs of Slovak artist Miloš Boda offer an interesting at small toys and currently are on exhibit in the University of Houston-Clear Lake Art Gallery, Bayou Building, Atrium 1, Level 2.

Boda works and teaches in Bratislava, Slovakia, at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design. His work has appeared in galleries throughout the world. Admission is free. For more information, call 281-283-3446.
